We were delighted to be commissioned to turn the garden space of this children’s protected home, in the North East, into an engaging space that could be enjoyed by children of all ages and their valued carers. Our brief was to transform an under-used and somewhat neglected area into a sensory garden that would include various age-appropriate play zones and make safe some of the existing structures.
The project involved:
- Demolition of existing groundworks with debris and plant removal.
- Installation of a gravel path, for sound and texture, plus a sensory seating zone.
- Creation of an activity zone with soft play bark to include a sandpit, step timbers, trampoline, and slide.
- Designing and planting borders with the supply of soil/compost for the growing zones of raised beds and a sensory zone.
- Installation of a wooden fence screen to create a safe and attractive partition within the garden.
- Cladded unsightly and potentially harmful railings to create a wall that is now safe and easier on the eye.
